I would like to invite you to the new bazaar called Galleria. Located in Kolola Poshta, next to the Wakhan Cafe and near the Dutch embassy, Galleria is a joint effort by Afghans to create a space to display arts and crafts while providing an opportunity to smaller creative endeavors to sell directly to the market. The partners are:
Silk Road Bamiyan Japanese Restaurant and Bamiyan handicrafts. selling clothes and bag and some living item like a cusion cover, aplon etc. We use Bamiyan hand weaven fabric. Also we sell Bamiyan teddy bear. The restaurant offers lunch and coffee and tea. We deliver lunches and dinners. Menu at the bottom
Nomad Carpets. The famous carpets made by Rahim Walizada
Zarif Design made by Zolaykha Shirzad. We make clothing with traditional material "Chapan". We also offer: Zarif Silk scarves, Nassima silk scarves, accessories, such as ties, little bags/belts made from chapan, boots with embroidery work, Zarif cufflings made of coins, some, Tshirts with silk screen, silk cushion with silk screen, the issue "Galleries" by Biina Sarkar. www.zarifdesign.com
Boumi by Hassina Shirjan: We offer curtains, pillow covers, bed covers, place matts, honey, spices + some specifict scarves which no one else has and some high quality Herat glass which will be made for boumi only. http://boumi.com/
Chelcherogh by Rameen Javid: calligraphy, painting, arabasque, pencil work, charcoal, watercolor, Herati silk scarves, felt, jewelry, tiles, women's clothing and woodwork. Aside from the National Gallery, our gallery is the largest active gallery in Afghanistan. Look for the exciting exhibitions starting April 2010! Collection photos at the bottom.
Galleria is different in its approach in several ways. The main differences are the desire to be dynamic and artist friendly. We will give our guests an opportunity to see how some of our products are made, live. Also, certain spaces, such as the second floor gallery & hallway belonging to Chelcherogh Arts, is available for exhibitions from other people and organizations. This space is as much for marketing as it is for introducing new talents and ideas.
Galleria is open daily from 10 AM - 6 PM. We will have a large party December 11. More info later.
Galleria has started with a great hopes and would like to expand to more areas of need. We certainly hope that you would make us part of your tour around Kabul City.
Directions: From Shahr-e Naw, pass City Center [Safi Landmark] and then Central Hotel about half a mile to reach the Dutch Embassy on Kolola Poshta Road. A block up from the Embassy, on the threeway turn left on the unpaved street toward Wakhan Cafe. Go all the way, just 10 meters shy of the Cafe, on your right there is a tree and two large orange doors on either side and a brand new security metal fence on top of the wall. You have reached Galleria.
Every Bento
will be served with steamed plain rice, a plate of side dish, and pickles. If
you eat at our restaurant, in addition, we will serve you a bowl of soup and
fruits. Maki-sushi will be served with Tempra.
